About Me

Everyone follows their own path and has their own story.  This blog is about my journey. My journey as a woman and some of the obstacles that women face.  My journey as a mother. My journey as a single mother. My journey as a daughter caught up in the sandwich generation.  Issues with health, weight, society, homeschooling (yep, I am one of those people), cooking, loss and just getting out of my comfort zone.  My thriving journey is how my life/seasons changed. I grew stronger in adversity and no matter who or what tried to knock me down, I maintained my faith and stood strong.  As I have aged, I have continually reinvented myself. I can only hope that by sharing my journey, it helps others as they travel on their own path. I also hope that if anything, my story lets others see that they aren’t alone.

I was born and raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia.  I love my home town. I love the people, I love the beaches’ and I love the history.  While homeschooling my children, we combined genealogy with history and discovered that when my ancestors came to America, one side of my family landed in Norfolk and the other side, Jamestown.  Thanks to the genealogical aspect, history came alive for my children. They learned that American history was in fact, their history, that was pretty cool. I wish I had learned that when I was in school, I would have ended up loving history.  Anyway, as I add to my blog, I will be including some of the aspects of what I love about Virginia Beach and Hampton Roads (the surrounding cities). It is a lovely place to live and raise a family.

There are many things that I enjoy but I love being a mom, every single day.  I have loved watching my two boys grow into respectful, considerate well rounded young men.  Besides being a momma, I love cooking, reading, crafts and trying new things. One of the things that I plan to  try is some of those recipes that I see pop up on Facebook. I am excited to share my experiences with you and I hope that you enjoy joining me on this journey.
